
David Kim Claims Runner-Up Honors at Bill Cullum Invitational

Final Results
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Senior David Kim claimed runner-up honors after recording his best round of the tournament on the final day of the Bill Cullum Invitational Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
Kim, who started the final round in fifth place, recorded a 4-under 68 to move up in the standings. He was consistent over the course of the two days, finishing with a three-round total of 7-under 209 (71-70-68). Kim's efforts were impressive, but he was unable to catch individual medalist Derek Castillo of Cal State Fullerton, who tied the tournament record at 202 (-14).
Senior Jonathan Young carded a 1-under 71 to jump 13 spots into a tie for 21st (217).
Freshman Ray Yang also closed out his first collegiate tournament in 70th at 230 (76-74-80). Sophomore Jonathan Kang was right behind him in 71st with a score of 231 (79-74-78), while junior Ramiz Jamal had his best round of the young season, posting a 73 (+1) to finish with a 54-hole total of 236 (82-81-73).
As a team, the 'Eaters finished eighth overall at 880 (303-288-289). Utah State won the title at 848 (-16), edging out last year's champion UC Santa Barbara by two strokes.
UC Irvine will be back in action next week as it travels to Northern California for the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Oct. 26-28.
