FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's volleyball team extended its Big West win streak to four with a 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18 victory over Cal State Fullerton Friday evening at Titan Gym.
 
Three 'Eaters registered a double-double, led by junior setter Ali Koumelis, who had 46 assists and a season-high 17 digs, to go along with six kills. Juniors Harlee Kekauoha and Haley DeSales finished with identical stat lines as they both had 16 kills, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks.
 
Senior Brianna Montgomery, junior Idara Akpakpa and sophomore Makayla Wolfe chipped in eight kills apiece. Wolfe also had a team-best five blocks, while senior Luna Tsujimoto notched 13 digs.
 
UCI hit .277 as a team, while holding CSF to a .113 hitting percentage. The Anteaters also owned the advantage in kills (62-to-39) and digs (61-to-54).
 
UC Irvine (16-2, 4-1 Big West) got out to a quick start in the opening set, going up 9-5 on a DeSales kill. Cal State Fullerton then answered with a 6-1 run to take its first lead of the night at 11-10. The 'Eaters were able to side out and the two teams went back-and-forth before a couple of aces from Kekauoha sparked a 10-2 rally that put UCI on top, 22-16. The Anteaters refused to take their foot of the gas as an ace from DeSales eventually ended it at 25-18. 
 
Set two was a seesaw battle with 18 tie scores and neither team holding a lead of more than two. UC Irvine pulled ahead, 20-19, before CSF responded with three-straight points. A solo block from Kekauoha and an Akpakpa kill knotted it back up at 22-all, but the Titans were able to hold on for the 25-23 victory.
 
The 'Eaters regrouped at the break and came out on fire, scoring the first five points of the third frame. They continued to roll as they went up by as many as 13 en route to the 25-15 win. Kekauoha led the way with eight kills on .467 hitting in the set.
 
The Anteaters kept the momentum in the fourth, pulling ahead, 13-8, on a Montgomery kill. UC Irvine stayed out front and put together an 8-3 run, capped by a double block from Kekauoha and Wolfe, to go up, 22-12. Cal State Fullerton made a late push but UCI maintained a comfortable lead as another kill from Montgomery closed it out at 25-18.   
 
Cal State Fullerton (4-15, 0-6 Big West) did not have anyone reach double figures in kills as Meagan Carlson led the offense with nine. Cady Francis finished with a team-best 17 digs.
 
UC Irvine returns to action tomorrow when it welcomes UC Riverside to the Bren Events Center for a 7 p.m. Big West showdown.
 
Saturday's match is the Anteaters' Think Pink Night as they will be wearing special pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness. Think Pink Adidas Climalite wristbands will also be available at the game for a minimum $2 donation. All proceeds collected during the event will be donated to the UC Irvine Breast Health Center.
