MEXICO --- Three Anteaters were invited to camp with the Mexican National Team in Janelly Farías, Clarissa Robles, and Kiana Palacios
The trio has been training with the squad over the past week working toward a Bronze Medal Celebration Match against Canada. The teams will play Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3:00 p.m. in Vancouver, British Columbia, and finish up the series on Monday, Feb. 6.
The collective played a warmup match on Sunday against club team, Pumas, which Mexico won, 7-0. Robles and Palacios were named starters and played the first half. Palacios converted a goal in the early minutes to make it 2-0. Farías would enter at the start of the second half and preserve the clean sheet. Mexico will play one more warmup match on Tuesday before heading off to Vancouver.
Palacios spent the final portion of the 2016 season playing with the under-20 squad, and has now risen up to the top level alongside her fellow Anteaters.
"It's such a cool experience being able to play with the main team. The girls are so cool! And it's great having some players from the sub 20s with me, and having the same coaching staff. We are just preparing for our games against Canada."
Robles is making her return to the national team roster for the first time since she was fresh off her senior season with the 'Eaters.
"Camp is going well so far. It's really nice having Kiana and Janelly here. It's always an amazing opportunity being invited back here to compete with some of the top players."
