OFF THE TEE

The Anteaters kick off the season at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic Monday and Tuesday (Sept.12-13) at the Ptarmigan Country Club.

Monday features 36-holes with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. The final 18 holes follows on Tuesday with another 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The course plays at a Par 72 and 6,364 yards.

Joining UCI in the tournament field are Boise State, host Colorado State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Indiana, Long Beach State, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, Portland State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Wyoming. Nine individuals will also participate.

A LOOK BACK

Samantha Chan led the squad last year with a 78.05 scoring average. She was the top Anteater in three tournaments a year ago.

Breanne Jones was second on the team with a 78.14 scoring averaged followed by Camille Wagg with a 78.20 scoring mark. Jones had UCI's best finish of the year, placing 19th at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational.

IN RETURNS

All-Big West honoree Kaley In returns after a redshirt year. She led the team with a 76.26 average over 23 rounds as a sophomore. In qualified for the U.S. Amateur this summer.

FEATURING FRENCH

Avery French joins the Anteaters after transferring from UNLV. French, who redshirted last season, owned a 76.63 scoring average in 2015 and was a member of the Rebel team that qualified for the NCAA championships. She ranked third on the team and 25th in the Mountain West with a scoring average of 77.32 as a freshman.

UP NEXT

Following a trip to Colorado, UCI will head to the Julie Inkster Spartan Invitational Sept. 19-20 at the Almaden Country Club.
