Ferris Interview | PDF Schedule

IRVINE, Calif. --- Interim Head Coach Elizabeth Ferris wasted little time getting started with the Anteaters unveiling the upcoming schedule for the women's tennis squad.

The ledger gets going as always with a flurry of fall tournaments in October and November. The 'Eaters will stay nearby for the Long Beach State Tournament and Kramer Collegiate Invite in Palos Verdes along with a pair of trips to San Diego for the ITA Regionals and San Diego State Fall Classic with some singles and doubles play.

The regular season starts January 14 with six straight home matches beginning with a high-caliber test in Mississippi which houses four of the seven ranked singles players the 'Eaters will matchup with as well as a top-50 doubles pair. Overall, the Anteaters come up against six schools that finished 2015-16 ranked and eight ranked doubles pairs.

The 'Eaters round out the opening homestand with four weekend matches and battles with California schools San Diego State, San Francisco, and a Saint Mary's squad that finished 2015-16 ranked No. 44.

The 'Eaters will then head out on their lone non-conference road trip starting at LMU before taking their play to Oregon for three centered around the University of Portland who finished 2015-16 at No. 63.

Ranked San Jose State greets the Anteaters as they return home along with conference play as Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State kick off March where UCI stays at Anteater Tennis Stadium through the entirety finishing with Brown University who ended 2015-16 ranked 54th.

April has the squad on the road for four of the six matches including a trip to Big West Tournament champion UC Santa Barbara. Hawai'i ends the home slate for the Anteaters on Saturday, April 15 followed by Big West Tournament play at Indian Wells at the conclusion of April.

Ferris marks her first season as the head coach after three as the Anteaters' assistant with a deep squad of 13 players. Six returners stocked with seniors Taylor LeFridge and Cassidy Branstine lead the charge. Cassidy's sister, Constance Branstine, is a blue-chip recruit joining the squad as part of seven talented newcomers ready to tackle the challenging 2016-17 agenda.
