
Anastasia Karnaze Paces UC Irvine in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Freshman Anastasia Karnaze led UC Irvine at the 36th annual UC Riverside Invitational Saturday morning at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.
Karnaze finished 44th overall and 27th among NCAA Division I runners with a time of 21:27.97 over 6,000 meters.
Marisa Gonzalez was 70th in 22:06.78, Hannah Ruby 77th in 22:14.94, Brenda Dorantes 86th in 22:25.20, Keely Boyd 100th (22:41.74), Aliya Shah 114th (23:02.57), Megan Mirkhanian 123rd (23:20.01) and Veronica Lopez was 134th with a time of 23:44.55.
Peyton Bilo from Cal Poly was the individual winner in 20:05.31 and Arkansas was the team champion with 33 points while UCI was 15th overall with 341 (sixth in Division I scoring with 214 points).
In the 5,000-meter open race, UCI's Lisa Vasquez finished 83rd in 19:22.86, Hallie Pullum was 87th in 19:30.12 and Brooke Dorsey was 104th with a time of 19:40.20.
The Anteaters' next competition is at the Mustang Challenge in Santa Clarita Oct. 1.
