UC Irvine heads to the 2016 Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational Monday and Tuesday (September 19-20) at the Almaden Golf and Country Club in San Jose.
The two-day tournament begins Monday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's final round starts at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
The course plays at Par 72 over 6,190 yards.
The 11-team tournament includes BYU, Cal Poly, Colorado, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Long Beach State, Nevada, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara and host San Jose State.
The Anteaters last played at the Juli Inkster March 3-5, 2013 when UCI finished sixth (297-301-310-905)
UC Irvine's Selanee Henderson won the tournament in 2007 (69-71-70-210) and 2008 (71-72-75-218).
IN THE CLUBHOUSE
UCI started the season with a second place finish at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
The Anteaters shot the lowest final round (295) and finished the tournament with a three round score of 885 (298-292-295).
It was the highest finish for an Anteater team since the team also placed second at the NMSU Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational Oct. 9, 2013.
It is also the first time since the NMSU tournament that two Anteaters finished in the top 10 at the same tournament.
Avery French made an immediate impact in her first tournament as an Anteater, finishing with a team best third place finish. She fired a four-under par final round of 68, which included a string of four straight birdies on holes 13-16, to end with an overall score of 212 (73-71-68).
French's final round of 68 is the best score for an Anteater since Joy Trotter at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Sept. 15, 2009.
In, who returned after a redshirt year, placed seventh with a career-best 54-hole score of 217 (73-69-75). The junior tied her career-best with a 69 on the second round.
