Player of the Year, All-Big West Honors For Anteaters

Irvine, Calif. – Anteaters claimed All-Big West honors on all teams and Mary Brooks nabbed her second Big West award as the sophomore was named Player of the Year.

Brooks earned Big West Freshman of the Year honors last season and is the fifth Anteater to be named Player of the Year. She led UCI with 55 goals on the season and a 1.83 goals per game average which is third-best in the conference. The sophomore scored a season-high six goals against Long Beach State on February 13 which ties her for second place in the Anteater record books for most goals in a game. Brooks was also named to the 2016 All-Big West first team.

Gabby Pierandozzi make her first all-conference appearance as the junior was named to the second team. The defender scored 29 goals on the season and was instrumental in UC Irvine's conference-leading defense.

Honorable mentions include all-conference first-timers attacker Destene Albers and goalkeeper Annika Nelson. Nelson led the Big West in fewest goals allowed with a 5.65 average per game.

UC Irvine completed the season with a 19-11 record taking third place in the Big West Championship.
