Alcantara Garners Big West Player of the Week Honors
May 30, 2016 | Baseball
IRVINE, Calif. --- The junior outfielder ended the 2016 season on a scorching hot streak, and was rewarded for it with his first Big West Player of the Week award.
In the series against CSUN, Adam Alcantara had hits and RBIs in each game helping the Anteaters to a series win and 13th straight season with 30+ wins. In the process, he extended his hit streak to 16 games, only the 11th streak of that length in program history.
Over the weekend, he was able to compile a team-high six RBI which included four in the season finale paired with a stolen base and the program's second inside-the-park-home run in the last 15 years.
The award was the third of the season for the 'Eaters, second for a field player joining Keston Hiura in non-conference play. The 'Eaters close out 2016 with a 31-25 record and 11 conference wins to tie them for seventh in the Big West.
