Back-to-Back Big West Titles for Lloyd Sicard

 

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- UC Irvine junior Lloyd Sicard successfully defended his title in the 110-meter hurdles at the Big West Conference Track & Field Championships in Long Beach Saturday.

Sicard won the final in a season-best time of 13.64 seconds, the second-fastest in the history of the conference meet that began in 1970.

Oliver Pham placed eighth in the 110 hurdles Saturday in 14.59 at Jack Rose Track on the campus of Long Beach State.

Brandon Howard finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.22 seconds for the ninth-fastest time in UCI history.  Cameron Vaca was fifth in 52.82.

The 4x400 relay of Antwon Parker, Paul Resong, Isaiah Jewett and Sicard was runner-up in the final race of the meet with a time of 3:12.37.

Isaiah Thompson had a third-place finish of 1:51.32 in the 800 meters and Matt Seawright placed third in the discus throw with a mark of 173-2.

UCI's 4x100 relay also finished third as Sicard, Duane Solomon, Howard and Parker recorded a season-best time of 40.97.

Jewett placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 48.14 seconds and Solomon was eighth in the 100 meters in 10.91.

The Anteaters finished seventh in the team race with 61 points while Long Beach State won its fourth consecutive title with 176 points.
