May 11, 2016 | Baseball
Irvine, Calif – UC Irvine baseball player Keston Hiura has been named this week's Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the Week.
The sophomore from Valencia, Calif. went 10 for 17 last week including a five-hit game in UCI's 4-2 extra-inning win over UCLA last Friday. The five-hit game was the 22nd in program history.
Hiura leads the Big West with a .400 batting average and .612 slugging percentage. The sophomore comes in second on the conference leaderboard with 36 RBI and seven home runs, both just one shy of the top spot, and a .475 on-base percentage.
Hiura was recognized as one of 60 players across the nation on the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List back in April. In March, the outfielder earned UC Irvine Male Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Big West Player of the Week honors.
UC Irvine will compete at Cal Poly on Friday (May 13) at 6:00 p.m. in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
