IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine won six events Saturday in the Spring Break Invitational at Anteater Stadium, including two new school records.
Barbara Coward won the discus throw with a school-record mark of 170-11 and the 4x100 relay of Taisyn Crutchfield, Megan George, Michelle Norman and Persis William-Mensah finished first in a school-record time of 45.51 seconds.
William-Mensah placed first in two individual events, winning the 100 meters in 11.91 seconds and the 200 meters in 24.48, tying her No. 8 time in Anteater history.
George captured the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.86 and Ariel Cheng earned first place in the pole vault with a mark of 12-7 ½.
Other top-three showings for UCI Saturday were Megan Benson (14.39) and Paige Bushnell (14.41) placing 2-3 in the 100-meter hurdles and Norman finishing third in the 100 meters (12.21).
In the 400-meter hurdles, Kaulyn Lee-McNeill finished second in 60.67 and Paige Bushnell was third with a time of 62.21.
UCI's 4x400 relay of Lee-McNeill, Brandy Coward, Crystal Lizaola and Simone Buchanan placed second in 3:46.96.
The Anteaters finished second in the team competition with 191.50 points as Utah State won the meet with 200 points.
UCI returns to action Thursday through Saturday at the UC Riverside Spring Classic.
