UC Irvine Wins 5 Events in Anteater 4-Way

 

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine won five events Saturday in the Anteater 4-Way to open the 2016 home schedule.

Junior Matt Seawright won the discus throw at 172-10 for the No. 9 mark in Anteater history and he placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 199-5, fourth-best mark in the UCI record book.

Lawrence O'Hara finished first in the shot put with a mark of 53-3 ½.

On the track, Isaiah Jewett placed first in the 400 meters in 48.39 while Cameron Vaca was second in 49.44.

Jake Williams captured the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.91 and the Anteaters' 4x400 relay of Jewett, Vaca, Paul Resong and Kyle Hubbard won in 3:16.01.

Oliver Pham finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.87, Lloyd Sicard was third in the 100 meters (10.82) and Michael Hamill placed third in the 200 meters (22.88).

Army won the team title with 64 points, Long Beach State was second with 39 and UCI third with 34.

The Anteaters remain home to host the UCI Spring Break Invitational Friday and Saturday.
