MPSF Coaches Tab UC Irvine To Finish Fourth in 2017

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine was picked fourth in the MPSF Men's Volleyball Coaches' poll.
BYU collected 119 points and nine first-place votes to finish at the top of the poll for the second straight year. UCLA was second, totaling 111 points and the final three first-place votes. Long Beach State took third with 103 points followed by the Anteaters with 79 points. Pepperdine was fifth (73), Hawaii (63) sixth, Stanford (61) seventh and UC Santa Barbara (58) eighth. CSUN (53), USC (36), Cal Baptist (24), and UC San Diego (12) round out this year's MPSF Coaches' Poll.
UCI starts the MPSF schedule hosting UC San Diego Jan. 5 for a 7:00 p.m. match in Crawford Court.
Each MPSF team has 18 conference matches on its schedule this year, which includes two contests against seven opponents, and one match against the remaining four. For UCI, only one match will count in the MPSF standings against BYU, Hawaii, USC and Cal Baptist.
The 2017 MPSF Championship Tournament begins with the top-four seeds hosting quarterfinal action on April 15. The conference semifinals are on April 20, on the home floor of the best remaining seed. That evening's winners will battle on April 22 for the MPSF Championship, contested at the semifinal site, with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament (May 4-6 at Ohio State) on the line.
