IRVINE, Calif. --- Five UC Irvine players have been recognized as the Golden Coast Conference announced its inaugural men's water polo postseason honors voted on by the league's head coaches.
UCI junior goalie Matej Matijevic, who has recorded 288 saves in 22 starts this season, was named to the All-GCC first team.
Sophomore Jack Trush, who leads the 'Eaters in scoring with 40 goals, was selected to the second team while junior Ryan Warde, who has scored 38 goals, received honorable mention recognition.
Bryant Joudrie and Ian Fleenor were named to the GCC All-Freshman team. Joudrie has scored 26 goals this season and Fleenor 25.
UCI, 9-13 overall and 1-4 in GCC play this year, is seeded fifth and opens against No. 4 seed Pepperdine tonight at 7:30 in the GCC Tournament at Stockton.
