Avery French Places Sixth At Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

BOULDER CITY, Nevada – In the final fall tournament, UC Irvine placed 19th at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown held at the Boulder Creek Golf Course.

In a weather shortened tournament, the Anteaters ended with a score of 594 (296-298) over 36 holes. Baylor dominated the field, shooting a 25 under par 551 (273-278) to capture the title. Host UNLV was second at 559 (280-279).

Avery French returned to familiar stomping grounds and shot back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish in a tie for sixth place. French, who earned her undergraduate degree from UNLV, has fired three rounds in the 60s this season, including a career-low 68 at the Ptgarmigan Ram Classic. It is her second top 5 finish of the year.

Camille Wagg tied for 84th with a score of 150 (77-73), while Kaley In was tied for 89th at 151 (75-76), Breanne Jones was tied for 101st with a two-round total of 155 (75-80) and Samantha Chan was 105th at 163 (79-84).

UCI returns to action in the spring, competing at the Battle at the Rock Feb. 13-14 at the Oak Quarry Golf Course.
