IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine All-American David Smith and the U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team will battle Brazil in a 2015 USA Volleyball Cup match Saturday (Aug. 29) at 7:00 p.m at the Bren Events Center.

Four former UC Irvine players were on the roster for the last USA Cup match, the most of any school. Former All-Americans and national champions Ryan Ammerman, Jayson Jablonsky and Carson Clark joined Smith on the U.S. roster.

The United States picked up its first win against Brazil (24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11) on Wednesday after dropping the first two contests of the series.

The U.S. Men are using the USAV Cup to prepare for the FIVB World Cup (Sept. 8-23 in Japan), which is their first chance to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games.
