Transfer Window: Jaime Phillips
August 15, 2015 | Men's Soccer
IRVINE, Calif. --- The final addition to the Anteater roster is a senior transfer in Jaime Phillips that knows his way around the goal.
Hailing from soccer-hungry Argentina, Phillips has been immersed in the game from a young age. He played on the junior level with Boca Juniors and Chacarita Juniors before settling in on the high school level at Godspell College.
He arrived in the states in 2012 playing for Division II Holy Names University located in Northern California. The forward began his collegiate career off well with 10 goals in his freshman campaign to warrant third team all-conference honors. His play only flourished from there with 15 goals as a sophomore and 21 as a junior to take home consecutive first team and conference player of the year honors with the Hawks.
"Jaime is a proven goal scorer," according to Head Coach Chris Volk. "He will provide an immediate threat to our attacking style of play. Jaime possesses the ability to create and score goals from his relentless work ethic and desire to win."
The 6-0 striker is intrigued by the numerous backgrounds represented amongst the 'Eaters including South American teammate and fellow senior Brazilian Thom Moreira. His interests stretch further than the soccer pitch for the sociology major as he integrates into UC Irvine.
