IRVINE, Calif. – First team All-American, MPSF Player of the Year, and MPSF Tournament Most Valuable Player Zack La Cavera has been named this week's Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the Week. Last weekend at the Bren, the senior opposite was pivotal in the Anteaters' run to capture UC Irvine's third MPSF title in school history.

In the semifinal match against USC, La Cavera posted career highs with 25 kills and 13 digs to defeat the Trojans in five sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 16-25, 15-11). In the MPSF title match against Pepperdine, La Cavera broke his day-old career high in kills by tallying 26 kills (.429) in just four sets to defeat the Waves (25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23). Through the two matches, La Cavera averaged 5.89 points per game and was named to the MPSF All-Tournament Team, as well as the tournament's most valuable player.

With a berth into the semifinal of NCAA Championship, La Cavera and the Anteaters await to face the winner of Loyola (Ill.) and Pfeiffer. The Ramblers and Falcons will face each other in the play-in match on Tuesday, May 5. The Anteaters will then face the winner on Thursday, May 7, at 6:00 p.m. in Maples Pavilion at Stanford.
