IRVINE, Calif. --- Saturday brought another new school record for the UC Irvine women's track and field team during the 21st annual adidas/Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium.
Freshman Persis William-Mensah set a new mark in the 100 meters in 11.72, breaking the previous record of 11.73 set by Desiree Bracey in 1991.
William-Mensah finished fourth of 36 competitors in the event Saturday.
Her effort followed another school-record-breaking effort from Bridget Devaney in the hammer throw (174-10) Friday.
Megan George placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday in a career-best 13.73, improving on her No. 3 time in Anteater history.
Kaulyn Lee-McNeill finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 60.20 and Madelyn Sando was sixth in the high jump with a mark of 5-1.
The 4x100 relay of Taisyn Crutchfield, George, Tyra Jones and William-Mensah placed fourth in 46.65, as did the 4x400 relay of Lee-McNeill, George, Brenna McNulty and Simone Buchanan in a season-best time of 3:47.65.
Tribute was paid during Saturday's meet to UCI's five seniors: Marie Brashears, Janessa Brown, Lauren Hackney, Lucy Phan and Lily Trinh.
UCI is scheduled to have some competitors at the Oxy Invite Saturday (May 9), followed by the Big West Conference Championships in Riverside May 15-16.
