UC Irvine Earns No. 2 Seed At NCAA Championship

Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine earned the No. 2 seed for the NCAA Championship and will battle the winner of the Loyola/Pfeiffer play-in match Thursday (May 7) at Maples Pavilion on the Stanford campus in Stanford, Calif.
The Anteaters will play the first semifinal match at 6:00 p.m. followed by top-seeded Lewis against the winner of the Hawaii/Penn State play-in at 8:00 p.m.
The national championship will be held Saturday (May 9) at 6:30 p.m.
The semifinals will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com, while the championship will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
Play-in matches will take place on Tuesday (May 5).

It is UCI's sixth NCAA appearance with the Anteaters winning the national title in 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2013.
The Anteaters, who are ranked second nationally, defeated Pepperdine, 3-1 to capture the school's third MPSF championship and earn the conference's automatic bid in to the championship.
UCI has not played either Loyola or Pfeiffer this season, but is 1-0 in previous NCAA Tournament meetings with Loyola. The Anteaters defeated the Ramblers, 3-0 in a 2013 semifinal match.
