SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. --- A wild finish could be on the horizon at the Big West Conference Championship and UC Irvine is in the thick of the race at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
Entering Tuesday's final round, the 'Eaters and UC Riverside are tied for second place with 36-hole totals of 575, just two shots behind team leader UC Davis at 573. Cal Poly is in fourth place at 585 and Long Beach State is fifth at 587.
UCI senior Pete Fernandez shot a 2-under 68 Monday and is tied for the individual lead with David Gazzolo of UC Riverside with two-round scores of 141. Fernandez tied for the low round of the day and was one of just three players to break par Monday.
Anteater freshman David Kim shot a 73 and is in seventh at 145 and junior Jacob Schulze is 14th at 146 after a 75.
Sophomore Bryan Shin carded a 74 and is 16th at 147 while freshman Jonathan Young shot 71 and is in 24th place at 149.
UCI is grouped with UC Davis and UC Riverside for the final round, beginning on the first tee at 8:20 a.m.
