ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine earned the title of the Cal Poly Match Play Championship with a 4-1 win over the host Mustangs in the championship match Tuesday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande.

The 'Eaters picked up wins from senior Pete Fernandez, sophomore Bryan Shin, junior Jacob Schulze and freshman David Kim to finish with a 3-0 record in the two-day event.

UCI defeated UC Santa Barbara, 3-2, and the Cal Poly "B" team, 3.5-1.5 on Monday.

Coach Paul Smolinski's Anteaters return to action April 6-7 in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
