UC Irvine Leading at Del Walker Intercollegiate

 

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- UC Irvine leads the field after Monday's first two rounds of the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.

The Anteaters have a 36-hole total of 561, three shots ahead of Campbell (564) with Long Beach State third at 568 in the 11-team tournament.

UCI senior Pete Fernandez shot a 7-under 63 in the opening round and carded a 1-under 69 in the second round to hold the individual lead at 8-under 132.  He is six shots ahead of Campbell's Jeremy Nevius and Long Beach State's Ryder Epson.

UCI sophomore Bryan Shin (68-73) and freshman Jonathan Young (68-73) are tied for seventh at 141, Jacob Schulze is 38th at 147 (73-74) and freshman David Kim is 60th at 152 (77-75).

Senior Bhuvan Potluri, competing as an individual, shot 151 (76-75) and is in 59th place.

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
