Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine defeated Concordia, 3-0 (25-17-25-13, 25-13) in an exhibition match at Bren Events Center Wednesday. The teams decided to play an extra set with UCI winning 25-21.

Thirteen different UCI players saw action tonight with Marty Ross leading the squad, hitting .727 (8-0-11) and rejecting seven blocks. Kyle Russell posted eight kills and three aces in two sets. Reid Dominquez totaled seven kills as did Karl Apfelbach who also had four blocks and a team-high 12 digs. Dante Chakravorti started at the setter position and totaled 25 set assists.

UCI will start the regular season at BYU's AVCA Showcase on Jan. 8-9. The Anteaters will face George Mason in the regular season opener on Friday and then Loyola the next night. Both matches begin at 3:30 p.m. PT from Smith Fieldhouse.
