UCI continues on the road, heading to Sacramento State Tuesday (Dec.22) at 2:00 p.m. in The Nest.
UCI leads the Hornets 5-4 in the series record. The two teams squared off in 2013 with Sac State winning 99-94 in Sacramento.
Sacramento State is 2-7 overall and are coming off a 74-72 loss to Hawaii on Sunday and a 109-76 loss to UCLA last Friday.
The Hornets put up 69 shots against Hawaii and went 7-29 from beyond the arc.
Sacramento State leads the nation in turnovers forced per game (26.00), turnover margin (12.67), three pointers attempted (378) and steals per game (14.6). They are second in the country in three-pointers made (11.4) and offensive rebounds per game (20.0).
The Anteaters are second in the Big West and 40th in the country in three-point field goal defense (.261).
The Anteaters, who are 3-8 on the year, are looking to snap a three-game losing streak after a 79-58 loss at San Jose State Sunday.
Mokun Fajemisin and Irene Chavez led UCI with 10 points apiece.
Freshman Tayla Jackson pulled down a game and career-high 11 rebounds.
The Anteaters out-rebounded San Jose State, 44-42, only the third time this year they have out-rebounded an opponent.
UCI's Raelyn Cheung-Sutton is ranked 15th in the nation in assists per game (6.4). She had nine assists against San Jose State on Sunday and has dished a career-high 12 assists against Nevada and Southern Utah which is the most in the Big West this season. Her 12 assists is tied for 12th most in the country this year.
Shereen Sutherland tops the squad in scoring with a 8.9 average. She ranks ninth in the league in field goal percentage at .460 (40-87).
Mokun Fajemisin is second in the Big West in rebounding (8.6) and blocked shots (1.7). The forward tops the conference in defensive rebounds with a 6.2 mark. She is second on the team averaging 8.7 points per game.
UCI will close out the year at USC on Dec. 28 and begin 2016 at CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 3. UCI opens the Big West slate at UC Riverside on Jan. 6. That game will be shown on ESPN3.
