After hosting La Verne on Tuesday (Nov. 10) in the final exhibition game at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Events Center, the Anteaters will host St. John's on Sunday (Nov. 15) to open the regular season. The teams will tip-off at 2:00 p.m. at the Bren Events Center.
Sunday's game is a double-header with the men's team hosting Loyola Marymount at 5:00 p.m.
La Verne was 10-15 in 2014-15.
Assistant Coach Lauren Bowie started her coaching career at La Verne, serving as an assistant coach with the Leopards from 2008-11.
La Verne's head coach Julie Shaw was an All-Big West player at UC Riverside.
It will be a challenging opening day match-up as St. John's received 33 votes in the USA TODAY Sports Preseason Coaches Poll.
St. John's was 23-11 last season and made its eighth-straight postseason appearance, reaching the third round of the WNIT.
The Red Storm will open the season at UCLA on Friday.
The Anteaters and Red Storm have met twice previously with St. John's winning both contests. The teams last met in 1987at the Bren during the Freedom Bowl Classic with St. John's winning 82-68.
UCI is 12-28 in season opening contests.
The Anteaters beat Occidental 87-76 in overtime in the first exhibition last week.
Forward Mokun Fajemisin led UCI with 17 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Jenny Dee and Shereen Sutherland followed with 14 points each, while Mckenzie Piper added 13 points and Raelyn Cheung-Sutton had 11 in the victory over the Tigers.
The Anteaters out-rebounded the Tigers 58-40.
Following the St. John's game, UCI will play the next four contests on the road.
