Countdown Capsule: Laura McGrail

2014 Player Capsule: Laura McGrail

BY THE NUMBERS

13 – McGrail has led the team in goals each of the last two seasons putting up 13 of them, six as a sophomore and seven last season as a junior

1/2 – Exactly half of her 76 career shots (38) have been on target including 23-for-43 last season

4 – The forward has accounted for all four multi-goal games for the 'Eaters in the last two seasons with each occurrence happening away from home in non-conference play

Laura McGrail encompasses Head Coach Scott Juniper's mentality set for the Anteaters by being physical and determined. Fans see the 5-10 forward constantly working on the pitch, not afraid to put her nose or shoulder into the play to win possession. She often plays bigger than herself by taking on multiple central defenders in keying the 'Eater offensive attack. Many might categorize McGrail as a "goalhawk" lurking around the goal and cleaning up at the end when in fact she has earned every point she has scored stemming from working hard to be in the right position and, in turn, putting her teammates in the best possible position to capitalize. This season, she is linking up with fellow striker, Bianca Frontino, as a sort of thunder-and-lightning combination in the offensive third.

FROM THE TONGUE

"I never thought the day would come where I step on the field as a senior. I'm so happy to have met such great people. These past three years have truly been the best years of my life."
