IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's Sam Moore is one of five finalists for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year.
Moore joins Nick Burdi of Louisville, Michael Cederoth of San Diego State, Jacob Lindgren of Mississippi State and Brendan McCurry of Oklahoma State on the list.
Moore is the national save leader with 23 and was recently voted a Collegiate Baseball "Louisville Slugger" second-team All-American as well as an All-Big West first-team choice. In his first year as the Anteaters' closer, Moore set new UCI and Big West Conference single-season records, passing marks of 17 and 20, respectively. He has appeared in 31 games and owns a 1.88 ERA while striking out 38 and issuing just 10 walks in 43 innings pitched.
Two of the top closers in the country will take the field this Friday at 8:30 PM (CT) as Moore and the Anteaters take on McCurry and Oklahoma State in the Stillwater Super Regional.
