
UC Irvine Topples No. 1 National Seed Oregon State, 14-2

Corvallis, Ore. -- UC Irvine exploded offensively for the second straight game to knock-off the No. 1 national seed Oregon State, 14-2 at the Corvallis Regional Saturday.
The Anteaters recorded three runs in the fifth inning with aggressive base running, scoring twice on a sacrifice bunt by Jerry McClanahan. After the Beavers got on the board with two runs in the top of the eighth, UCI broke the game wide open in the bottom of the inning with eight runs, highlighted by a Kris Paulino grand slam.
UCI improves to 2-0 in the regional and will play the winner of the Oregon State/UNLV elimination game at 8:00 p.m. Sunday. The Beavers and Rebels will tangle at 2:00 p.m. for the right to play the Anteaters.
