IRVINE, Calif. --- Sam Moore continues to be in contention for the Gregg Olson "Breakout Player of the Year" honor. The list trimmed to 36 semifinalists will be pared to a list of finalists, Friday, June 6 prior to the start of super regional action with the winner named in Omaha, Nebraska during the College World Series.
Moore is the current national leader in saves with 23 and was recently voted a Collegiate Baseball "Louisville Slugger" second-team All-American and an All-Big West first-team choice. Moore owns a 1.90 ERA and is the new UC Irvine and Big West Conference single-season leader after erasing both marks this year. He is one save from tying the NCAA mark of 24, set in 2013 and is in his first year filling the closer role for the Anteaters.
