A Look Back At A Successful 2013-14 Season

With the school year quickly coming to a close, let's look back at some of the highlights from a successful 2013-14 season.

UCI was 17-15 overall, recording the most wins since the 1994-95 team went 19-11 overall.

The Anteaters won five of the last seven games.

Seven of the Anteaters' 15 losses were by 5 points or less.

UC Irvine advanced to the Big West Tournament semifinals, falling to eventual champion Cal State Northridge.

The Anteaters were 9-7 in the Big West, finishing in a tie for fourth place.

UCI went 7-7 against non-conference opponents, playing 11 of the 14 games on the road. Seven non-conference wins were the most since 2010 when the club posted an 8-6 record against non-Big West opponents.

The Anteaters advanced to both the Loyola Marymount Tournament and Montana Lady Griz Classic Championship games.

Forward Camille Buckley proved to be the most dominant player in the conference. She averaged 18.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per outing overall and ended the year ranked 10th in the country in rebounding. She led the conference in rebounds and was second in scoring.

This season, Buckley recorded a career-high 34 points and grabbed a career-best 26 rebounds. Her 26 rebounds were a school record and were the most in the country by a men's or women's player this year.

Buckley also ranked 15th in the country in double-doubles with 19 which led the Big West. She recorded nine consecutive double-doubles to end the year.

Buckley was named to the All-Big West first team, while senior guard Jennifer Tsurumoto was named honorable mention.

Buckley was named Big West Player of the Week three times this season, while Kelly Meggs was honored once.

Both Buckley and Tsurumoto scored 30 or more points this year. The last time an Anteater duo scored 30 or more in one season dates back to Jade Smith-Williams and Mikah Maly-Karros in 2009-10.

The Anteaters scored 90 or more points three times this season, a feat which has never been done.

The Anteaters ranked second in the Big West in scoring at a 72.5 clip which was a school record bettering the old mark of 70.1 set in 1983-84.

UCI led the conference in turnover margin (+3.41), committing fewer than 10 turnovers in a game five times this year.

UCI played four overtime games, the first time in school history that the team has had four overtime games in one season.

Kelly Meggs was recognized with the 2013 Sportsmanship Award. Each school's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) voted for a male and female representative who best displayed Sportsmanship during the 2013 calendar year.
