LOS ANGELES --- UC Irvine junior Itos Aikhionbare set a school record for the second straight week as she broke her own mark in the discus throw at the Oxy Invitational Saturday.
Aikhionbare had a record-setting mark of 170-2 in the discus, breaking her previous UCI record of 169-5 that she set last year. Aikhionbare, who finished fourth in the event, broke the school mark in the shot put a week ago.
She won the shot put Saturday with a mark of 52-4 ¾.
Freshman Ariel Cheng finished second in the pole vault at Oxy with a mark of 12-2. Marie Brashears was 20th of 53 competitors in the 800 meters in 2:13.76 and Lauren Hall 32nd in 2:18.47.
UCI competes in the Big West Conference Track & Field Championships at Davis Friday and Saturday.
