
MPSF Honors Three Anteaters

Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine men's volleyball player Scott Kevorken was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first team, while Michael Brinkley was named to the second team and Jeremy Dejno was selected to the honorable mention squad. All-conference teams were selected by the league coaches.
In MPSF matches only, Kevorken ranked second in hitting percentage with a .480 mark. The senior middle blocker hit over .600 eight times this season, including a .875 performance against UC San Diego on April 4. Kevorken is averaging 1.83 kills and 0.87 blocks per set overall. He recorded a season-high six block assists twice this year and is currently ranked fifth in UCI career solo blocks and seventh in block assists and total blocks. Kevorken recorded a career-best 11 block assists in the 2013 national championship match. Kevorken was named second team All-MPSF in 2013 and was named to the MPSF All-Freshman team in 2011.
Brinkley is averaging 2.48 digs per set overall. The junior libero has recoded double-figure digs 12 times this season, including 18 in a three-set win over Long Beach State on Mar. 28. Brinkley hasn't recorded a receiving error in the last seven matches and has committed just 18 receiving errors all season (.971). Brinkley is the only UCI player to play in every set this season and adds 0.60 set assists per set. He currently has 269 digs this season which ranks sixth in the UCI single season records. Brinkley, who ranks second all-time in UCI digs, was a first team All-MPSF choice last year.
Dejno has the most kills on the squad (319) and averages 3.19 per set. The senior outside hitter is also averaging 1.38 digs and 0.50 blocks per set. He has recorded double-figure kills 18 times this season, including a season-best 21 in a win at Hawaii. The senior hit .633 (20-1-30) at UC San Diego on April 4. Dejno ranks seventh all-time in aces at UCI and ranks in the top 15 in career kills and attack attempts. He earned first team All-MPSF honors in 2012.
Sixth-ranked UCI will take on third-ranked Stanford Saturday (Apr. 19) in a MPSF quarterfinal match at Maples Pavilion.
