IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine snatched its second straight win downing the Rebels of UNLV, 5-2, Friday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

For the second straight match, UCI battled in the final doubles match to secure the point, and once again it was Ryan Cheung and Jonathan Poon pulling it out, 8-6.

UNLV (4-5) rallied for the initial singles point to tie it at 1-1, but the 'Eaters (4-9, 0-1) would hammer out the next three points finishing up on court 6 with Jonathan Poon who swept in a pair of 7-6 (4) tiebreakers.

The win marks the fifth straight home match UCI has taken over the Rebels and the ninth match overall in the meeting that the home school has come away with the victory.

UC Irvine will now take its two-match win streak into a week filled with five matches in six days. The tennis begins Tuesday, March 11 with a double header at Anteater Tennis Stadium against Georgetown (10:00 a.m.) and Richmond (3:00 p.m.).
