IRVINE, Calif. --- The sophomore stepped up in a big conference win over Cal Poly to earn Big West Athlete of the Week honors.

Teamed up with Brooke Schweyer, the duo won 8-4 in their doubles match to secure UCI's initial point in the match. She would follow that up by breezing through singles, 6-0, 6-3, at slot No. 2 to send the Anteaters on their way to a 4-0 sweep of the Mustangs.

Gong has settled in nicely with Schweyer to go 3-1 after the switch. It has also elevated her singles play out of an early-season slump to take each of her last two matches.

She snags her second athlete of the week honor after bursting onto the scene early in 2013. Gong and the 'Eaters host Cal State Northridge looking to run its streak to 14 consecutive Big West regular season matches won on Sat. Mar. 8 at 11:00 a.m.
