Iwasa Named All-American, Invited to MLS Combine
December 12, 2014 | Men's Soccer
IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior Cameron Iwasa continues to rein in the accolades becoming the sixth NSCAA/Continental Tire All-American in program history.
Iwasa became the all-time leader in matches played in program history tying Amani walker with 85 appearances as an Anteater having started and played in all 25 matches in 2014. In addition, he recorded six goals and assisted on six others as part of UCI's 16-6-3 season that stretched into the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
The senior forward landed on the second team much like Marco Franco did as a defender in 2013. Miguel Ibarra remains the lone first-teamer from 2011 while Enrique Cardenas (2013), Irvine Garcia (2009), and Brad Evans (2006) round out the list of Anteater All-Americans having each all made the third team.
Along with his inclusion on the All-West Region squad, alongside Michael Sperber and Eduardo Calzada, and the MAC Hermann semifinalist list, Iwasa also earned himself an invite to the annual MLS Player Combine leading up to the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. The combine is held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from January 8-13 with the SuperDraft commencing on January 15.
