'Eaters Finish 10th at Ka'anapali Classic

 

LAHAINA, Hawaii --- UC Irvine's final round Sunday was 24 shots better than Saturday's second round as the Anteaters moved up two spots to finish 10th in the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic at the Ka'anapali Golf Course.

UCI finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 882 after shooting 290 Sunday, compared to Saturday's total of 314.

Oregon won the event with a three-round total of 819, North Florida was second at 843 and Georgia third at 848.

UCI freshman David Kim shot a 2-under 69 in the final round to finish 29th at 219.  Junior Jacob Schulze carded a 76 Sunday and placed 39th at 221.

Senior Pete Fernandez finished 43rd at 222 after shooting 1-under 70 in the final round, sophomore Bryan Shin (77) placed 47th at 224 and freshman Jonathan Young (75) was 63rd at 229.

MJ Maguire from North Florida and Aaron Wise of Oregon tied for first at 10-under 203.

This was the final event of the fall for UCI, which returns to action Feb. 9-10 in the Barona Collegiate Cup at Barona Creek Golf Club in Lakeside, Calif.
