IRVINE, Calif. --- Chris McNealy, whose name is prominent in the UC Irvine record book, was selected by the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Skyforce in Saturday's NBA Development League Draft.
McNealy was chosen in the sixth round by the Skyforce, whose NBA affiliate is the Miami Heat.
The 6-4 McNealy was an All-Big West Conference first team member as a senior at UCI last season, when he was also voted team's Most Outstanding Player. He averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and had 75 assists and 28 steals as a senior for the 'Eaters, who were 23-12 overall and won the program's first conference title in 12 years.
McNealy, who played in a school-record 135 games in his UCI career, ranks eighth in career steals (103), 11th in three-point field goals (131), 13th in assists (277), 18th in points (1,207) and 21st in rebounds (518) in the Anteater record book.
The Skyforce begins training camp in Sioux Falls on Monday.
The current UCI team opens its 2014-15 schedule Saturday (Nov. 8) hosting Simon Fraser University in an exhibition game at the Bren Events Center at 7:00 p.m.
