Connor Spencer Makes Baseball America's Top Ten WCL Prospects List
September 09, 2013 | Baseball
Irvine, CA --- Left handed infielder Connor Spencer, playing for the Wenatchee Applesox of the West Coast League this summer, was honored as a top prospect by Baseball America.
He was second in batting average (.380) and was only one hit away from leading the league (WCL) in that category. He finished the season in the top 5 of the WCL with 14 doubles, an on-base percentage of (.441) and a slugging percentage of (.518).
With an upright stance, easy stride and simple setup at the plate, Spencer had an advanced approach and a line-drive swing. Spencer was praised by his coaches for his breaking ball recognition as well as his ability to stay back, hit the ball into the gaps, and drive the ball to the opposite field.
Spencer will be back in the fall. As a Junior, he will try to continue his fine approach at the plate after hitting (.373) last spring.
