
Rabago, Surrey Walk Away With Corvallis Knights' Top Honors; Spencer, Martinez Earn All-League Nods

IRVINE, Calif. --- Chris Rabago and Elliot Surrey earned two of the Corvallis Knights' top team honors. Rabago repeated as the Joe Segel Hustle Award winner while Surrey collected the Knights' Top Pitcher Award.
Rabago becomes the first player since Indiana's Mark Calkins (2001-02) to win back-to-back Hustle Awards. Spending time behind the plate and playing short for the Knights, Rabago batted .222 with a home run and 17 runs batted in. He posted 32 hits and scored 19 runs for the Knights, who won the West Coast League championship with a 37-17 record.
Surrey was named to the All-WCL first-team after posting a 6-1 record and a league-leading 1.27 earned run average. Surrey was 5-1 in the regular season and won his lone playoff start. Over 11 appearances, Surrey pitched 56.2 innings and struck out 35 while holding teams to a combined eight earned runs.
Connor Spencer also earned first-team recognition after batting .380 for the Wenatchee AppleSox. Voted to the North All-Star team, Spencer totaled 70 hits in 44 games, belting 15 doubles and four home runs while driving in 38 runs.
Renae Martinez was a West Coast League honorable mention after hitting .308 for the Walla Walla Sweets. Also a North All-Star, Martinez posted 36 hits and scored 14 runs in 32 games. The catcher totaled four doubles and two home runs while driving in 14 for the Sweets, who posted a 31-22 record.
Justin Castro was selected to the Far West League All-Star Game for the Neptune Beach Pearls. Castro hit .305 over the summer and totaled 32 hits, including five doubles, to go along with 14 RBI.
