IRVINE, Calif. --- UCI men's tennis entertained the 28th-ranked team in Division II in the UCSD Tritons and earned its sixth victory of the season, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
The Tritons (11-10) played tough in doubles giving the Anteaters fits. The duo of Tyler Pham and Shuhei Shibahara battled back to win 8-5 on court 3. They finished up the sweep to give UCI the initial point.
UCI (6-16, 2-1) earned the clincher early with straight set wins from Shibahara, Pham, and Justin Agbayani who put the match away.
Jonathan Hammel and Ryan Cheung also added point each going into a third set tiebreaker.
UCI returns to Big West action next week with a trip to UC Riverside on Wed. April 17th at 12:00 PM.
