IRVINE, Calif. --- UCI scored its fifth Big West Athlete of the Week award this week thanks to junior Franziska Goettsching.
She and the 28th-ranked Anteaters ended March a perfect 8-0 while also going 9-0 on their homestand. Goettsching scored doubles and singles wins to help UCI defeat Pacific, Wyoming, and Sacramento state pushing UCI to a 16-3 overall record and 5-0 in the Big West.
Goettsching along with two-time award winner in 2013 Kristina Smith are currently ranked 66th in the nation in doubles having won nine of their last 10 matches.
For the junior, it is her first Big West Athlete of the Week accolade. For UCI, it's the fifth honor this season as Goettsching joins Ali Facey, Sarah Gong, and Smith who has two.
UCI enjoys a week off for spring break before travelling to Cal State Northridge on April 6th.
