Riley Martin Wins 800 To Lead UC Irvine At The Spring Break Invitational

Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine sophomore Riley Martin won the 800 meters to led the Anteaters on the second day of the Spring Break Invitational at Anteater Stadium Saturday.

Martin won the 800 meters in a personal-best time of 1.52.46.

James Douglas placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 53.62 and eighth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.89.

Sophomore Steven Malena finished fourth in the 3,000-meters, while Matt Tyson was sixth in the 400 meters (48.74) and Mason Miller was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet.

The 4x100 relay team of Mike Kennedy, Tyson, Mike Graf and Julian Lujan finished fifth in 42.22.

Several meet records were set, three of them by Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon's AAron Hill won the long jump at 25-09.25 (7.85m), Fred Taylor won the 200 meters (21.09) and the 4x100 relay of Aaron Hill, Taylor, Lance Parker and Dario Horvat won in a meet record time of 40.49.

Cornell's Montez Blair won the high jump for the second consecutive year in a meet record 7-04.25.
