FACEY NAMED ESPN ZONE ANAHEIM ANTEATER OF THE WEEK

Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine women's tennis player Ali Facey has been named this week's ESPN Zone Anaheim Anteater of the Week.

Facey, a sophomore from Cameron Park, has also been named Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. She was instrumental in helping UCI defeat two ranked opponents No. 46 LSU and No. 33 Pepperdine. Facey was key in UCI's 4-3 ouster of Pepperdine on Sunday (Feb. 10). Facey and teammate Brooke Schweyer won their doubles match 8-5, and in her single match won the deciding point with a comeback victory, going 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Against LSU on Monday (Feb. 11), Facey had another come back in her singles match after dropping the first set, and then returned from a 3-0 deficit in the third set, going 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in her match.

UCI's next match will signal the beginning of conference play as it travels north to Cal Poly on Sun. Feb. 17th and UCSB on Mon. Feb. 18th for a pair of 11:00 a.m. matches.
