IRVINE, Calif. --- Four California high school student-athletes have signed national letters of intent with the UC Irvine men's golf program, announced by Anteaters' head coach Paul Smolinski.
Joining the UCI program next fall are Johnny Hyun, David Kim, Chris Parkinson and Jonathan Young.
Hyun, from Arnold O. Beckman High School in Irvine, was a qualifier for the 2013 U.S. Junior Championship, a 2013 CIF finalist and first team All-Pacific Coast League player.
Kim, from Eastside Christian High in Fullerton, won the 2012 Scholastic Junior Golf Championship at Morgan Run Club & Resort in Rancho Santa Fe. He was runner-up at the 2012 AJGA Under Armour/Gary Woodland Championship and he finished fourth in the 2013 AJGA Randy Wise Junior Open.
Parkinson, who attends San Ramon Valley High in Danville, is a three-time All-East Bay Athletic League selection. He has three Northern California Golf Association tournament wins and he advanced to the 2013 U.S. Open final stage qualifier.
Young, from Los Alamitos High, won the 57th annual Len Kennett Junior Championship and helped lead Los Alamitos to the 2011 CIF-SS Central Divisional title.
