STOCKTON, Calif. --- UC Irvine stayed virtually even with UC Santa Barbara into the fourth quarter, but the Gauchos scored four unanswered goals in the final five minutes in defeating the Anteaters, 13-8, in the seventh-place game of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament Sunday.

Eighth-seeded UCI (13-15), which trailed just 4-3 at halftime, drew even at 5-5 on a goal by Jared Osborn with 6:37 left in the third quarter.

The No. 6 seed Gauchos built a couple of two-goal leads after that before Tyler Mancuso's goal with 6:07 remaining in the fourth period pulled the 'Eaters within 9-8.

UCSB's Derek Shoemaker answered with 5:06 left to start the Gauchos' game-ending four-goal binge.

Senior Mitch Wise led UCI with three goals in his final Anteater game as he ends his career with 242 goals.

Senior Bojan Hrlec scored a goal Sunday to complete his UCI career with 104 goals.  Senior goalie Alex Kazmier recorded eight saves in his final collegiate game.
