UC Irvine Travels to SLO for Big West Championship

● UC Irvine's women's cross country team competes in the Big West Conference Championship at San Luis Obispo Saturday.
● The 6,000-meter race is scheduled to start at 10:40 a.m. on the Fairbanks Memorial Cross Country Course.
● There is no admission charge for the meet. Spectators must park at Cuesta College and cross Highway One to access the course. A parking permit is required and can be purchased for $2 at the self-serve kiosk.
● Entered in the race for UCI are Mary Follo, Kaycee Holcomb, Katie Kass, Makenna McGrann, Nicole Mendoza, Carlotta Pham, Marthie Ponty, Hannah Ruby and Alice Yang.
● Holcomb finished 38th in last year's league meet, McGrann 43rd, Pham 46th and Kass was 62nd. UCI placed sixth in last season's team competition.
● Vince O'Boyle, in his 32nd year as UCI's head coach, has announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31.
