Journal Day #10 – by Zack La Cavera
Hey everyone, this is Zack La Cavera doing the journal entry for our final day here in Argentina.
Knowing that we were leaving the hotel at 7 a.m., I didn't bother going to bed. After an eventful night out as organized by the tournament hosts, I finished up packing, made sure I had everything, and went down to the lobby. As the sun was rising over the Atlantic Ocean, Jeremy Dejno, Jason Agopian and I ran down to the beach and once again jumped in. It was quite a shock to the system but it felt very good and woke me up a little bit.
Most of the guys took a little nap on the bus (on the 4.5 hour ride) to a section of Buenos Aires known as "La Boca." When we got there, Kniff suggested we walk around for an hour and a half to stretch before heading to the airport. I was pretty excited because I was planning on seeing a good friend of Connor's and mine who is traveling abroad in Argentina. We scheduled to meet our friend, at 1:00 p.m. near a bus spot. We waited for over a half an hour. Unfortunately we had to head back to the bus before we could meet up with our friend. So we got back on the bus and now I'm sitting at a little restaurant called La Pausa (in the Buenos Aires airport) with my brothers.
I would like to take this time to thank my mom and dad for all they did to get me to go on this trip. I am very grateful for you guys. Very many people do not experience the experiences I've had here. I realize this and I know that none of this could have happened with my parents. I would also like to thank the people who donated money to help me go on this trip. Your donations were very generous and I thank you for that.
On behalf of the team and coaches here I would like to thank all the parents, staff, and sponsors who aided this team in going to Argentina. Thanks to Coach Kniffin and Coach Burch, our trainer Jim Pluemer, Mrs. Woloson and everyone who worked hard for this to happen smoothly. If I forgot anyone's name that needed to be mentioned I am quite sleep deprived so I apologize, but I assure you that the team is very appreciative of you as well.
This is Zack La Cavera singing off and can't wait to see everyone back home in Irvine! I cannot wait for this year! Rip'em Eaters!
Kniffin's notes:
Look closely at the attached photo and you may see three little dots entering the Atlantic Ocean at sunrise…
