Women's Golf Opens Season At WSU Cougar Cup

OFF THE TEE
- UCI opens its fall schedule participating in the WSU Cougar Cup Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 24-25).
- The tournament will be held at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course which is located on the Washington State campus in Pullman, Wash.
- The course, opened in August 2008, will play at par 73 and 6,200 yards for the tournament.
- A shotgun start will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
- A field of 14 schools will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday.
- The Tournament field includes: Brigham Young, California, Cal State Fullerton, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Nevada, Portland State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara and host Washington State.
- Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
- In the previous four years of this event, the only school out of the state of Washington to win the title was Idaho in 2009. The host Cougars have won it twice (2008, 2010) and Washington is the defending champion (2011).
- This is the second straight year UCI has opened at this tournament.
- The Anteaters finished sixth at this event last year with a three-round total of 939 (323-304-312).
- Sophomore Michelle Yang is the top returning player, recording a team best 74 on the final round of the 2011 Cougar Cup. She finished the tournament tied for 32nd place with a score of 234 (85-75-74).
- Last year, the Anteaters finished second at Big West Championships.
- Sophomore Michelle Yang was named to the Big West first team a year ago, while senior Michelle Park was a second team honoree.
